Use this before the DV-2027 entry period opens. It checks the passport, scan, eligibility, and entry basics the official rule makes important. It does not decide whether you qualify for an exception or whether you will be selected.

Tick an item only when every point under it is true for your exact nationality, route, documents, and travel plan.

I know DV-2027 registration has not opened yetThe Department of State has not announced the DV-2027 entry start date. A site asking you to enter now is not the official entry site.

You will wait for the Department of State to announce the registration dates and official entry website.
You are not paying an agent or uploading passport details to a private website while registration is closed.
You know the official DV entry site is only used during the announced entry period.

I have my own valid, unexpired passportThe final rule requires passport information from the petitioner's valid, unexpired passport unless a limited exception applies.

The passport belongs to you, the principal entrant, and is valid and unexpired on the day you submit an entry.
The name, passport number, issuing country or authority, and expiration date are clear and readable.
You are not assuming that a national ID, an expired passport, or someone else's passport will replace your passport.

I can prepare a readable passport scan in the required formatThe rule calls for a scan of the passport biographic and signature page, in JPEG format and no larger than 5 MB.

Tick only if

You can make a clear scan of the biographic and signature page from the same valid passport used for the entry.
The file is JPEG, not PDF, and is no larger than 5 MB.
The scan is stored privately and will only be uploaded through the official Department of State entry website once registration opens.

My passport details will match every answer in the entryA mismatch can create a fraud or eligibility problem later, even if the typo seems small.

Your name, date of birth, country of birth, passport data, and photo records match the documents you will rely on.
You know which passport you will use and will keep a private copy after submitting the entry.
You will not let a third party guess, alter, or reuse your details.

I am not claiming a passport exception without a real official basisExceptions are limited. Financial hardship by itself is not an exception under the final rule.

You will use the passport route unless you have a specific exception recognized in the official rules.
If you believe an exception applies, you have evidence and will follow the DV-2027 instructions rather than relying on a forum or agent.
You understand that a personal situation alone does not automatically create an exception.

My spouse and children details are complete and accurateThe entry rules require eligible spouse and child details and photos. Missing an eligible family member can be a serious problem.

You know which spouse and unmarried children under 21 must be included under the official instructions.
Names, dates of birth, places of birth, and photos are prepared accurately for each required family member.
You will not omit someone because they do not plan to immigrate with you.

I checked the core DV eligibility rules before enteringA passport does not make someone eligible. The principal applicant must still meet the education or qualifying-work-experience rule and the country-of-eligibility rules.

You checked your country of eligibility using the official DV instructions, rather than assuming residence or citizenship decides it.
The principal applicant has the required high school education or qualifying work experience, or will not enter until that is verified.
You understand that selection is random and is not a visa approval.
