IRCC is acknowledging citizenship applications from late March, which puts the wait before the wait at about five months

IRCC's August 20 update says it is now sending acknowledgement of receipt letters for citizenship applications received the week of March 23, 2026. Because an applicant cannot track anything until the AOR arrives, that marker answers the question a processing figure cannot: whether silence is expected yet, and roughly how long acknowledgement is taking.

October 2026 Visa Bulletin: what the State Department actually said, and what is forecast

The October 2026 Visa Bulletin is not published yet. The July bulletin said an October advance was likely for EB-2 India and EB-5 unreserved India, and named the months whose dates it would reach; it also made both statements conditional on demand and the FY 2027 limit. Here are those exact dates, the conditions attached, why October 1 resets the numbers, and where the widely shared October 2026 Visa Bulletin predictions stop being official.

September 2026 Visa Bulletin: what we know while we wait

The September 2026 Visa Bulletin has not been published yet. Here is what the August 2026 bulletin already puts on the record for EB-1 India, EB-2 India and EB-5 India, what the last month of a fiscal year can and cannot do, and where third-party September 2026 Visa Bulletin predictions stop being official.

Three Express Entry rounds in three days, and the cutoffs were 378 points apart

IRCC's August 19, 2026 French-language proficiency round issued 5,000 invitations at a Comprehensive Ranking System cutoff of 382, the largest round and the lowest bar of a week that also produced a 760 nominee round and a 523 Canadian Experience Class round. Read together, the three days show what a cutoff number is and is not: a bar for one category on one day, not a national score to measure yourself against.

USCIS re-dates the I-485 for September 18, and there is no grace period between editions

A revised Form I-485 arrives on September 18, 2026, matched to the new public charge rule, and the edition rules are a hard switch: the current 01/20/25 form is accepted only if postmarked or submitted before September 18, the new 09/18/26 form only on or after it. A preview of the new edition is already published. Companion alerts re-date Forms I-765 and I-539 from September 15.

Canada's CEC round shrank to a third and the bar rose seven points

IRCC's August 18, 2026 Express Entry round invited 1,000 Canadian Experience Class candidates at a Comprehensive Ranking System cutoff of 523. Against August 5, that is a third of the invitations at a bar seven points higher, and reporting calls it the year's smallest CEC round with its highest CEC cutoff. Two rounds in two days also puts IRCC's cadence on display: nominees on Monday, experience class on Tuesday.

USCIS public charge rule for September 2026: who it affects and what changes

USCIS issued Policy Manual guidance implementing the public charge rule that takes effect September 18, 2026, after the July rescission of the 2022 regulations. The date does unusual double duty: adjustment applications postmarked on or after September 18 are decided under the new framework, and means-tested benefits received on or after that date count in ways benefits received before it do not. For anyone weighing when to file Form I-485, the calendar has rarely mattered this much.

Canada's August 17 nominee round: the cutoff eased 8 points, and the volume tightened

IRCC's August 17, 2026 Express Entry round invited 442 provincial nominees at a Comprehensive Ranking System cutoff of 760, against 507 invitations at 768 in the August 4 nominee round. Two consecutive nominee rounds now sit on the record, and reading them together says more than either headline: the bar drifted down while the round shrank, and the tie-break clock was set just ten days before the draw.

Canada's citizenship certificate wait hits 25 months, and the law that caused it is eight months old

IRCC's August 10 update puts proof of Canadian citizenship at 25 months, up from 19 a month earlier and 10 in January. The queue passed 100,000 for the first time and stands near 121,800. Behind the climb is one dated cause: December's removal of the first-generation limit on citizenship by descent, which made a large new group eligible faster than IRCC can issue certificates.

US visa services in 25 African cities move to regional hubs from August 1

The State Department is realigning routine US visa services away from 25 African posts, including Abuja, from August 1, 2026. Applicants must book and pay at one of 20 designated regional hubs. Which hub is yours sits on two separate State Department lists, one for nonimmigrant and one for immigrant visas, and they do not always give the same answer. Here is every affected country, what is established for each, and where the binding answer lives.
