NDIS contact guide

NDIS contact centre hours: when 1800 800 110 is open

Written and checked by Walter Armani. Last checked August 24, 2026. Research and verification follow the QueueCheck editorial standards. How we verify information

The NDIS National Contact Centre is open from 8 am to 7 pm, Monday to Friday. The hours are measured in local time in each state and territory, so the same published window follows the caller's own Australian time zone.

The closing time moved one hour earlier on August 24, 2026. The old window ran until 8 pm; calls placed between 7 pm and 8 pm now fall outside the published weekday hours. The official number and the way the centre operates did not change.

These are the three lines shown on the main NDIS contact page. A local NDIS or partner office can have different opening hours, so do not use an office listing to infer when the national phone line is staffed. The official office finder is the place to check an in-person location.

The published call-wait number is not live

93 seconds

Average speed of answer, the March 2026 quarter

The latest official contact-centre performance report available when this guide was checked is a quarterly measure, not a live queue. It reports an average answer time of 93 seconds, with 67% of calls answered within 60 seconds. It also says 87% of callers reported that their enquiry was resolved at first contact.

None of those figures predicts today's hold. A quarterly average mixes quiet and busy periods, and the NDIA has not put a live estimated wait on its public contact page. It also has not published an hour-by-hour table that supports naming a best time to call. Advice that promises a shorter queue at a particular hour is therefore guesswork unless the agency publishes new evidence.

Phone, webchat, or an online enquiry?

The official contact page gives webchat the same weekday window, from 8 am to 7 pm. It describes chat as a route for general enquiries and tells people with urgent or complex matters to call or email. That distinction is more useful than trying to predict a hold: choose the channel from the work you need done.

The online enquiry route covers access, participant support, provider support, early childhood support, and general enquiries. It can be used without waiting on the phone, but an online submission is not the same thing as a real-time conversation. Keep the confirmation and the wording you sent if the matter later needs follow-up.

Public holidays and exceptional events can alter ordinary service. The main contact page does not publish a permanent holiday timetable, so check it on the day rather than carrying a past festive-season notice forward. If an older NDIS page still shows the former 8 pm closing time, use the dated August 24 notice and the current main contact page, both linked below.

What changed on August 24

The National Disability Insurance Agency said the Board and Minister approved the one-hour reduction so staff could be aligned with periods of highest demand and focus on more complex calls. That is the agency's stated reason. It did not publish an hour-by-hour demand table with the announcement, and QueueCheck does not infer one from the decision.
