Three Express Entry rounds in three days, and the cutoffs were 378 points apart
IRCC's August 19, 2026 French-language proficiency round issued 5,000 invitations at a Comprehensive Ranking System cutoff of 382, the largest round and the lowest bar of a week that also produced a 760 nominee round and a 523 Canadian Experience Class round. Read together, the three days show what a cutoff number is and is not: a bar for one category on one day, not a national score to measure yourself against.

Canada's CEC round shrank to a third and the bar rose seven points
IRCC's August 18, 2026 Express Entry round invited 1,000 Canadian Experience Class candidates at a Comprehensive Ranking System cutoff of 523. Against August 5, that is a third of the invitations at a bar seven points higher, and reporting calls it the year's smallest CEC round with its highest CEC cutoff. Two rounds in two days also puts IRCC's cadence on display: nominees on Monday, experience class on Tuesday.

Canada's August 17 nominee round: the cutoff eased 8 points, and the volume tightened
IRCC's August 17, 2026 Express Entry round invited 442 provincial nominees at a Comprehensive Ranking System cutoff of 760, against 507 invitations at 768 in the August 4 nominee round. Two consecutive nominee rounds now sit on the record, and reading them together says more than either headline: the bar drifted down while the round shrank, and the tie-break clock was set just ten days before the draw.
