Use the receipt number, not the shortcut name
Check the USCIS case status page with the receipt number from the notice. If you also have a USCIS online account, compare the account notices and the public case-status result. A message in your account or a mailed notice is more important than a public timeline from another applicant.
If the case has linked benefits, track them separately. An I-485, I-765, and I-131 can move at different speeds even when they were filed together.
What silence usually means
Many USCIS cases sit with no visible update between receipt, biometrics, interview, request for evidence, approval, or card production. Silence is stressful, but it is not automatically a denial or a lost file.
The useful question is whether your form, category, office, and receipt month are now outside the published case-inquiry window or outside the pattern being reported by closely similar readers.
What to match before comparing
- Exact USCIS form, such as I-90, I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131, I-129F, or N-400.
- Receipt date, filing route, category, and office or service centre where known.
- Current milestone: receipt, biometrics, evidence request, interview, decision, card production, or document delivery.

A renewal receipt can extend Green Card validity, but that does not make the replacement card arrive immediately.
